One system, set up per trade

Set up for your trade,
not "retail in general"

Pick your business when you sign up and HORIZON Shop Tracker arranges itself around how that trade actually works. Here's what that means for yours.

Mobile Money Booths

Your teller opens with a float you both confirmed. All day, every Airtel and MTN receipt lands in a ledger neither of you can edit. At knock-off they count the drawer, the variance is recorded, and you collected the cash with a PIN-confirmed handover. From home you see all of it live.

SMS-verified float & cash ledger
Float-gap theft alerts
PIN-confirmed cash handovers
Commission estimates and month-end booth reports

Kit you'll want: The phone you already have. Even better: a cheap spare Android phone kept at the booth to run the app and forward messages by itself.

Groceries & Mini-marts

Morning delivery is booked in against the purchase order. All day the barcode scanner keeps the queue moving. Mealie meal running low pings you before the shelf goes empty, and the yoghurt nearing expiry sells first because the system pushes the oldest batch.

Barcode till with quick products
Expiry alerts and oldest-first selling
Low-stock warnings and reorder suggestions
Supplier price history

Kit you'll want: A phone or tablet. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner and a small 58mm receipt printer keep the queue moving. Both are optional, add them when you're ready.

Bars & Bottle Stores

Friday night, three deep at the counter. Rounds go through in taps, mobile money and cash mix on one bill, and the regulars' book lives in the system instead of behind the counter. Saturday morning you see exactly what the night did, bottle by bottle.

Fast repeat sales
Split payments on one bill
Customer credit ("the book") with limits
Stock by bottle or crate

Kit you'll want: Just a phone. Add a small receipt printer if customers ask for slips.

Restaurants & Takeaways

Lunch rush: dine-in and takeaway orders fly to the kitchen with a note. Every plate of village chicken knows its ingredient cost from the recipe, so when the price of cooking oil jumps, you see the margin move the same week, not at month end.

Dine-in / takeaway with kitchen notes
Daily dish margin on the dashboard
Ingredient purchasing

Kit you'll want: A phone or tablet. A receipt printer is handy for kitchen tickets and customer copies.

Butcheries & Fresh Produce

Meat sells by weight, in tiers: one price across the counter, another for the caterer buying ten kilos. Every batch has a date, the oldest sells first, and the expiry alert gives you time to discount instead of dumping.

Weight-based quantities (3 decimals)
Bulk price tiers
Batch dates with oldest-first selling
Expiry alerts

Kit you'll want: A phone. Keep using your weighing scale. Read the weight and type it into the sale.

Wholesalers & Distributors

Marketeers buy on account and settle weekly; your price list has three tiers and your stock moves by the box. Purchase orders track what the supplier promised against what the truck delivered, and the debtors list keeps the Friday collections honest.

Price tiers per customer type
Customer accounts with credit limits
Purchase orders and goods received
Branch-to-branch comparison

Kit you'll want: A phone or a computer for the office. A barcode scanner helps if you move boxed goods fast.

Hardware & Spares

Four thousand line items and a customer who needs "the small one for a Corolla". Search by name, number or barcode and it's found. Supplier price histories show you who quietly raised prices, and slow movers show up before they eat your capital.

Pharmacies

Every pack has a batch and an expiry, and dispensing pulls the oldest first, automatically. The expiry report is your early warning system, and the audit trail answers any question about who dispensed what, when.

What you need to get started

Honestly, almost nothing. You can be selling today on the phone in your pocket. Scanners and printers are extras you add when it suits you.

A phone or computer

Any Android phone, tablet or computer with a web browser. The one you use for WhatsApp is enough.

A number to sign up

Your phone number and an email. Setup takes minutes and the first 30 days are free, with no card needed.

Internet to sync

Any data or Wi-Fi. It keeps working when the network drops and catches up on its own when it's back.

Optional extras, any time: a barcode scanner (USB or Bluetooth, it works like a keyboard), a small 58mm thermal receipt printer, or a spare Android phone to sit at a mobile-money booth. None of these are needed to start, and you can add them one at a time as the business grows.

Running more than one of these?

Every branch can be a different trade. A grocery in town, a bar in the township and two booths at the market, all under one login, each set up its own way.
